Sphaeropteris lepifera is a Tree-like fern which can grow up to 20 feets tall. That plant has existed for over 300 million years and is considered a living fossil. The tree fern belongs to the family Cyatheaceae. Modern tree ferns are not much different from those in the Jurassic period, making them akin to living fossil plants.
