The leaves of the Bird's Nest Fern are similar to banana leaves. It is a native fern in Hong Kong and can grow on other plants. The bean sprouts of the bird's nest fern are called shansu in Taiwan and can be cooked into a delicacy. This species is protected under the Forestry Regulations in Hong Kong.
